What SimpleProfitCalc is

A set of small, focused web tools that each do one job well. Every calculator gives you the answer as you type and shows the full working, so you can check the maths rather than take it on trust. Everything runs in your browser — there is nothing to install, no account to create, and no data is stored.

Who it is for

Anyone who works with numbers: shop owners setting prices, freelancers quoting for work, tradespeople pricing jobs, students checking their homework, and shoppers working out whether a deal really is a deal. The business calculators use UK conventions and pounds sterling throughout, and the VAT tool supports the standard, reduced and zero rates.

What the calculators help you do

• Work out percentages — of a number, between two numbers, or as an increase, decrease or change.
• Set and check prices — profit, profit margin, markup, gross profit and break-even.
• Handle sale prices — discounts and percent-off, forwards and backwards.
• Deal with VAT — add it to a net price or remove it from a gross price at any UK rate.

Alongside the tools, we publish plain-English guides explaining the formulas and concepts behind them, so you understand the maths as well as getting the answer.
